In and out of the Classroom

Combining English with sport is one of the highlights of Exsportise summer camps.

With a team of experienced teachers our international students have the chance to take part in English lessons for one session each day.

Seaford College head teacher Richard Wright said the English programme was based around having fun while learning.

“We combine fun and learning, we always try to stimulate their interests in English,” he said.

Each student is assessed when they arrive at camp, with Wright putting them through a reading test and a writing test before talking to them to decide which class they will be in.

“On the basis of that they are put into of five levels, going from elementary to advanced,” Wright said.

“Most of them are in the intermediate group, but we have a lot in other groups as well.

“There are about six students in the advance class, some can speak very good English but we can always teach them more.”

Each class works to a weekly programme, based around a theme which helps link the subject together.

This week classes have been studying topics such as sport, the human body and the upcoming Olympics.

“We like it to have a them so we can group everything together,” Wright said.

“It makes it easier to remember and is something they can look back on when they think of Exsportise.”

Week Four Starts in Style

The sun has continued to shine as the Exsportise summer camps head into their fourth week.

After a fun weekend exploring the local areas for our multiweek campers, it is back on site in our three venues, with a bunch of new faces to introduce to life at Exsportise.

Everyone has enjoyed sunshine today and all of our kids are getting ready to take part in the evening entertainments which range from a sporting tournament and race night at Oundle School, to Seaford College’s inaugural dodgeball tournament.

Gladiators Set to Take over Oundle School

Oundle School will host a Gladiator night this evening, as the entertainment kicks off in the Exsportise camps.

All three Exsportise camps are having a stellar week four, with the warmer weather still sticking around. Clayesmore School, our first junior camp for 10 to 14 year olds, has two more sports on the roster this week with swimming and basketball both getting off to a brilliant start. Business continues as usual at Oundle School and Seaford College, with all of our campers busy with the wide array of sports on offer.

Entertainment is due to kick off soon for the evening, with Gladiators and obstacle courses on the agenda around the sites tonight. A big congratulations to Jakob who won last night’s event at Oundle and has had a bike at his disposal for the day today.
