Reporting to: Centre Director
Qualifications: Previous experience of being a Matron would be beneficial as the essential element to this role is that you are passionate about the care and welfare of the students who attend our camps and because this job is extremely challenging, but also very rewarding, you will need to be not only energetic and dymanic but also aware of students needs and concerns.
Salary: Starts from £400 per week depending on experience.
Working Day: You will spend a certain amount of time in the students’ Houses and liaising with cleaning staff assigned to the Houses. You will also be responsible for the Medical Room, where anyone can come if they are feeling homesick, ill or are injured. You may have to administer first aid or take the student or staff member to the local GP or Hospital if you feel that the situation requires further intervention. You will need to keep up-to-date records of any possible welfare issues. Attendance at the daily staff meeting is compulsory and it is here that you will inform staff of any incidents that have taken place throughout the previous day/night or inform staff about any students who they need to be extra vigilant about.
Time Off: 1 day + 1 session off per week. A session is a morning, afternoon or evening.
Main Duties:
Overall welfare of students and to a lesser degree staff.
Working closely with the Centre Director and other members of the Senior Team
Lead ‘Welfare’ section of the Staff Meetings
Liaise with school’s cleaning staff
Preparing rooming for students
Being a ‘mum’ particularly to younger students when homesickness occurs
Sorting out simple, non-aggressive disputes between students
Overseeing issues of hygiene
Taking responsibility for boys and girls’ laundry
Overseeing tidiness in the rooms. Ensuring students are eating properly
Attending daily staff meetings
Other duties involved in the day to day running of Summer School as and when necessary
