What about valuables?
We do not recommend that your child brings any valuables to the centre (e.g. mobile phones, IPODs, MP3 players, cameras, stereos, and electronic games). However, if your child(ren) insist on bringing these items they must hand them in to the Centre Manager for safe keeping. The Centre Manager will also collect tickets, passports and pocket money upon your child(ren)'s arrival. Your child(ren) will have access to their personal items from the centre office at allotted times during their stay. Exsportise cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen property
Pocket Money - How much money should my child bring?
This is a difficult question to answer. If your child is going to be staying at the centre and not going on any weekend excursions, then £50.00 would be sufficient to cover various items such as sweets, drinks and phonecards. Please bring sterling cash in £5 or £10 notes. If your child wants to go on a trip they may require money for entrance fees so therefore a maximum £15.00 per trip should be sufficient. There are two trips per week. No doubt they will also want some money for shopping! This is at your discretion. There is also an additional cost for off site evening entertainment for 15 and 16 year old students and this is £50 paid in advance for evening entertainment three times per week. Please note we cannot take money from your credit card in order to top up your child's pocket money during their stay.
Should I name my child's clothing?
Please do! It is crucial in identifying any lost or forgotten belongings. Please also ensure that all other items that your child(ren) bring, such as sports equipment, are clearly and easily identifiable.
Laundry?
If your child(ren) are staying with us for one week then please send them with about 10 days worth of clothing. If they are staying longer then we offer a free laundry service every Wednesday. Clothes will be collected and returned after approximately 2 days as long as they are identifiable. (see above)
Hygiene?
Personal hygiene is very important and it is vital that each student has at least one daily shower at the end of the day. We will tactfully encourage those who we think require a little more persuasion in this area.
Does my child(ren) need to bring their own sports equipment?
We always advise that they do, particularly if they are doing a Sport Academy course. If not, or if they are just trying a sport for the first time, then we do have a limited supply at the camps that students can use. |
