At Exsportise Rugby Camp we target high performance and provide intensive tuition for students, delivered by qualified rugby coaches. Rugby skill and practice sessions are accompanied by position specific analysis and tuition, preparation for mental toughness, rugby intelligence and skills, as well as teaching on elements of nutrition, rehabilitation and how to achieve fitness, speed and strength, to make for an interesting, stimulating and exciting five days.

The summer rugby camp offers approximately 15 hours of intensive coaching a week catering for all levels of play from beginner to advanced level. The rugby camp will target the serious-minded young rugby player who aspires to play at the highest level he or she can. This course takes into account what is required both on and off the field of play and will have a series of sessions, practical & theoretical, covering a whole range of topics such as skills and elements of competence, fitness, tactical and game awareness and personal attitude.

The students will play rugby matches on Friday afternoon against other teams of similar ability. Parents are invited (and encouraged) to come and watch!

EXSPORTISE SUMMER RUGBY CAMP

We aim to improve an individual's skill level and increase their understanding of rugby through a wide range of activities, drills and discussion:

  • Short Passing and Long Passing: the aim is for the student to improve his or her passing off both hands over varying distances, receiving and giving a pass in one movement. Vital components are accuracy, height and speed of pass
  • Body Positioning: the aim here is to increase an individual's confidence and technique when tackling or making contact. A key element is their body position at point of contact, for example in the rucks, mauls and tackle situations
  • Positional Skills: the students will be given an insight into the requirements of all positions from 1-15, including their roles within the game, thus developing their understanding of their position in relation to others
  • Tackling: a variety of different areas of the tackle are covered including the front tackle, from kneeling through to running, and safety features including the position of the head and learning how to fall safely
  • Kicking: includes the punt (a) screw kick and b) up and under; drop kicking; grubber kick; goal kicking; and dribbling
  • Beating an opponent: Tuition on 2v1 play, dummy runs, sidestep, swerve, and moves that can create opportunity

At all times age, ability and physique are taken into account, and the coach differentiates tasks and drills for individuals, ensuring that all students enjoy a rewarding and fun experience at the Exsportise summer rugby camp.
