Always a Great Day for Hockey at Exsportise Summer Camp

If hockey is your thing, then you have come to the right place. Because at Exsportise, hockey is definitely our thing! It is safe to say that Exsportise Summer School was founded on hockey, has grown through hockey and continues to deliver the very best in hockey programmes.

Our founder and Managing Director, Bram van Asselt, is a former professional hockey player from Holland – Exsportise was his vision, to combine a love of sport with learning English, which was exactly what he had done when he first arrived in England.   Bram spoke very little English and hockey offered him the opportunity to mix and interact with English speakers in a relaxed and familiar environment whilst improving his language skills.  That is how the concept of Exsportise was born, and that is what our programmes aim to achieve.

Our first hockey camp took place at Cranleigh School in 1988.  We now operate out of the beautiful Seaford College and enjoy their amazing facilities nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park in West Sussex.  We also now offer hockey at Oundle School near Cambridge enabling our programme to expand.

Our hockey coaching team are highly experienced and motivated. This will be the 4th year that our Head of Hockey has returned to run our hockey programme.  As the former coach of the Great Britain Women’s Ladies Olympic team of 2000, Jon Royce really has done it all. He has coached and played at an international level, including coaching the England Men’s Team to a 4th place at the World Cup in 2007. He has coached at many of the top schools and clubs in the UK, including Surbiton, Teddington, Kingston Grammar School and Bede’s and is an FIH Grade 1 coach.

He is supported by a team of experienced and dedicated hockey coaches who truly are passionate about hockey and getting the best out of their players.

That is why we continue to attract players from some of the top clubs in Europe, including HC Bloemendaal, HTC Uhlenhorst and EL Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. But our programme is genuinely suitable for all levels of experience and abilities.
