Role Overview
Tennis Hitters are dynamic and skilled players who can partner with players during practice sessions, delivering consistent, high-quality ball delivery and maintain rallies to enhance player performance. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for tennis, a deep understanding of technique, and a commitment to maintaining a high-intensity practice environment. Hitters also get involved in evening and weekend activities and support students in their daily routine while with us.

Your role supports the Tennis Coaching team in delivering the coaching programme effectively, ensuring sessions are proactive, focused, and highly engaging within a safe, secure, inclusive, and tolerant environment. All communication occurs exclusively in English to support language immersion, with consistent and accurate ball delivery during practice to simulate match play and maintain rallies with players of all levels, including high-performance athletes. Collaborate with coaches and players to tailor hitting drills improving timing, footwork, and stroke technique, assist with warm-up, stretching, and cool-down routines, and help ensure equipment is kept in good condition and stored securely.
Engage with students during breaks, encourage positive behaviour, ensure camp rules are followed (including phone restrictions), and foster social interaction. Support extends to evening events when tennis sessions are morning/afternoon only or staffing allows, as well as supervising excursions and transfers by taking an active role in weekend excursions and assisting with airport/train terminal arrivals and departures for safe transitions.
Additional Duties
Assist in ensuring students’ well-being, happiness, and overall camp experience. On a rota basis, supervise mealtimes to promote positive behaviour, social inclusion, and general well-being, checking appropriate eating to fuel bodies, and carry out wake-up and bedtime duties ensuring students are settled, registered, and safe.
Participate in daily staff meetings to share updates, raise concerns, and coordinate activities, adhere to Staff Handbook guidelines and Centre Manager instructions for consistent, safe, professional conduct, and take on any other reasonable tasks assigned by senior staff, reflecting flexibility and team support.

Job Specific Personal Specification & Qualifications
To be suitable for this role, you, ideally, hold a LTA Assistant (formerly Level 1) or higher qualification whilst being a member of a high-performance squad at university or equivalent, or competing in ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors at grade J60 (J4) and above. Additionally, you hold valid First Aid and Safeguarding Children certificates. You demonstrate strong leadership to set high standards and work hard, motivate and engage students of varying ages and abilities, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills with students and colleagues. Your enthusiastic, approachable, friendly, and reliable attitude shows initiative, with flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and duties, professionalism in appearance, conduct, and language, and full participation in camp life including supervising meals, free time, and excursions. You commit to being fully present during activities, limiting personal phone usage to maximise interactions and act as a positive role model, while showing cultural sensitivity to work inclusively with diverse groups, taking initiative beyond duties, and embracing feedback for continuous professional development.
