Role Overview
The primary responsibility of an Academy Goalkeeper Coach is to develop goalkeepers' technical skills, tactical awareness, physical conditioning, and mental resilience through individualised training. Responsibilities include preparing goalkeepers for game situations, analysing performance, and providing feedback. You collaborate with other staff to align training with team strategies, promote growth in sporting and language skills, and ensure the supervision and welfare of students both during and outside coaching sessions.
To plan and implement the coaching plan as agreed with the Arsenal Development Head Coach. Sessions should cover essential techniques, tactics and mental aspects of goalkeeping and see players “grow” on all levels
To ensure sessions are progressive and tailored to meet the learning needs and goals of the players, are delivered in a proactive and engaged fashion and in a safe, secure, and tolerant environment
To assess individual goalkeepers and provide personalised feedback to help them improve their skills and confidence
To lead daily goalkeeper training sessions that focus on positions, agility and reflexes, shot-stopping, handling, footwork, distribution, decision-making and communication. Additionally, you will assist with coaching general football sessions
To deliver all coaching aspects in English only
To prepare for each session and to keep a record of the session plans. The Head Coach or Centre Manager may ask for session plans at any time.
To ensure risk assessments are considered and sessions are delivered safely.
To complete a written report for each student of your group at the end of each week
To help the Head Coach ensure that all activity equipment is kept in good condition and stored safely after each session
About you

We look for Team Members who are: (Personal Specification & qualifications)
Minimum qualification for Football (must be valid to coach in the UK):
UEFA C (was Level 2) or higher
National Goalkeeper Course (replaced FA level 1 and Level 2 in Coaching Goalkeepers)
As a minimum a current ‘Introduction to First Aid in Football’ / ‘FA Emergency First Aid’
Safeguarding Children Course within the last three years, or completed the re-certification
If less than UEFA C or no goalkeeping qualification, Level 1 plus extensive goalkeeping coaching experience and/or playing or coaching experience in professional or semi-professional football
Able to motivate children and young adults of all ability levels
Strong leadership and communication skills and ability to set high standards, hard working
Enthusiastic and friendly with willingness to get involved in all aspects of camp
Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours
Experience working with / coaching children
