Role Overview
Sport Head Coaches are responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive and successful coaching programme whilst ensuring players' safety, well-being and enjoyment during coaching sessions. Head Coaches will lead, guide and support a team of Coaches and Assistant Coaches to make sure sessions are varied and tailored to meet the learning needs and goals of the students. Head Coaches will work closely with the Senior Management Team to guarantee the seamless operation of the summer school.

As a Head Coach you ensure all coaching, processes, and paperwork consistently meet company guidelines across offered programmes, leading responsibilities in mornings and afternoons with accurate registers and full student attendance. You guide and support coaches and assistants, providing advice for high standards, appropriate pacing, and clear English delivery to support language learning, while developing detailed, progressive, student-focused session plans adaptable to staff experience for Centre Manager review.
You continually review risk assessments for student / staff safety and well-being, take responsibility for welfare and behaviour during activities, liaise with Welfare Manager and House Parents for complete student understanding, evaluate coaches with constructive feedback, assess skill levels for ability grouping, complete end-of-stay progress reports, coordinate awards, and facilitate workshops on topics like mental performance, physical health, cultural awareness, leadership, and performance analysis.
You manage staff / student / parent / agent queries efficiently and guarantee equipment maintenance, safe storage, and end-of-summer inventory.
Additional Duties
You attend Sunday Welcome Meetings for senior staff introductions and register verification, participate in daily staff meetings contributing activity, welfare, and operational updates, adhere to Staff Handbook guidelines and Centre Manager directives with professional conduct, assist camp setup/pack-down for smooth logistics, and undertake additional reasonable duties demonstrating flexibility.

Job Specific Personal Specification & Qualifications
To be suitable for this role, you hold a valid coaching qualification which allows you to coach independently along with valid, current First Aid and Safeguarding Children certificates to maintain compliance and your coaching licence. You are highly organised and dependable with strong time management to prioritise and meet deadlines efficiently, possess exceptional team leadership to guide, motivate, and develop coaches and assistants while setting clear standards, and perform effectively under pressure by remaining composed while multitasking in fast-paced environments. Your positive, approachable demeanour is enthusiastic and friendly, enabling effective communication at all levels, and you motivate and engage students of varied ages and abilities to sustain high progress. You adapt flexibly to changing schedules, maintain professional conduct and image as a positive role model, commit to pastoral duties across camp life including mealtimes, free time, excursions, and welfare, demonstrate cultural sensitivity for inclusive work with diverse backgrounds, and proactively take initiative while embracing feedback for continual professional development.
